Samuel Hanes Testimonial
I went to Chile, a young backpacker looking to fly-fish, and I knew I wasn't looking for the 'standard' lodge experience, which I didn't want and couldn't afford. I wanted to fly-fish, preferably camping out in the backcountry, but didn't have access to a 4WD vehicle, or the knowledge, or the time to really explore solo, with all the frustrations that can entail, especially in a different country.

I was looking for someone who lived in and knew the area, was passionate about fly-fishing, and whose focus was guiding the backcountry. Jose led me to the remarkable Villa O'Higgins area for a week's lake float-tube fishing. Villa O'Higgins is the 'end of the road' in mainland Chile, is rarely fished, and looks something like a cross between Glacier National Park and the Lord of the Rings. The fishing was excellent, the scenery unparalleled, and the experience one I will always remember.

My O'Higgins trip with Chile on the Fly was the high point of my two months in Chile, and one of the high points of two plus years in South America.
