When my friend Scott and I were planning our first trip to Chilean Patagonia this year we found the job a real challenge. We didn't want to stay in a lodge but wanted to use an independent guide for the first week of our 5 week stay. I was lucky to make contact with a former long time guide in the Coyhaique area who strongly recommended Jose Marti.
Jose's extensive experience as a guide together with his comprehensive knowledge of the surrounding waters soon became evident as our trip unfolded. His ability to speak both English and Spanish fluently cannot be underestimated in a region where you will meet very few locals who can speak English.
His enthusiasm and irrepressible good humor made each day a pleasure to anticipate. I can only dream of those 4 kilo plus browns that we saw in the shallows of one lake which he will be able to access in all sorts of weather with his new Jet Boat, and yes, Jose did put us on to some memorable fishing. As fly fishing fanatics that was our prime reason for coming to Patagonia."
